The Renault Megane Has Been Discontinued
People easily refer to French flair, but what is it? Just look at the Renault Megane. From the long sloping bonnet to the aggressive curves, the perfectly proportioned wheels framing the door line, to the curve of the roof and the faceted headlights – the Renault Megane is a car unlike any other. This beautiful hatch has graced our roads over several generations but has sadly been discontinued in SA. Luckily, you can still look for a good used Renault Megane, or consider the very desirable Renault Clio. Alternatively, if you want something simpler to drive – consider the cheeky and nippy Renault Kwid.

Renault Megane Review
Excellent quality, smooth ride and good-value, three very important things to remember when you decide to purchase a Renault Megane from Group1 Renault. All powertrain types offer this and so much more to the prospective New Renault Vehicle buyer, so with this in mind our Renault Megane Review we will be taking a general look at the Megane range.
No matter how you look at it, the Megane is a safe and refined family hatchback. It offers neat styling, a choice of economical (yet powerful) engines and it drives more like a sports car than a family car both in the city and on the open road. Interior wise the dashboard is sensibly laid out and thanks to a spacious passenger and driver area it is easy to get comfortable in while driving. In our opinion the Megane Dynamique 84 kW is a good all-rounder that offers good ride quality and a fun drive without compromising on any other aspect of the driving experience. From a safety perspective the Megane also performs well and previous models have been awarded the maximum 5-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests (the latest model is still to be tested).
When it comes to passenger comfort technology then you can only expect the best from the Renault Megane line! From climate control and an integrated navigation system to Bluetooth® Connectivity, Electric Windows and Rear Park Distance Control, the Megane has it all.
The Renault Megane is a triumph of good French design and daily practicality. It is a family friendly car with a sporty look that is enhanced by its wider wheel arches, large front air intake and F1®-inspired aerodynamic blade. In essence this is the perfect car for a young family who want to still have fun while traversing the streets of South Africa. If the standard features and already-impressive design aren’t enough, there are many Renault Megane styling accessories to choose from.
Megane Driving & Handling
On the road the result is clear, the Renault Megane is built to drive and have fun in! In fact it could even be said that the overall driving and handling is perky, especially in the Megane models powered by the excellent 97kW and 151kW turbocharged petrol engines.
Megane Safety Tech
Previous models of the Megane have all performed exceptionally well in even the most stringent crash test environments. So it should come as no surprise then that once again Renault has loaded its latest Megane model with everything from ABS + EBD + EBA + ESP + ASR, to multiple Airbags in both the front and rear of the car.
Overall Thoughts on the Megane
Quality, sportiness, safety and frugal fuel use are probably the biggest selling points for the Renault Megane. But this is most certainly not the only thing that the car offers. It is also easy on the eye, fun to drive and most importantly for many people it makes a BOLD statement.
Renault Megane Fuel Consumption*
Low CO2 Emissions and frugal rates of petrol consumption help to ensure that the Renault Megane saves you money as you drive it. This is all thanks to the outstanding Megane Fuel Consumption Figures as shown below:
|Consumption rates||Urban Cycle||Extra Urban Cycle|
|Expression||8.7 L/100 km*||5.1 L/100KM*|
|Turbo Dynamique||6.8 L/100 km*||4.5 L/100KM*|

Additionally this trim level comes standard with Front and Rear Curtain Airbags.
