Renault Megane R.S. Specs, Features and Review
Renault Megane RS from Group1 Renault

The Renault Megane RS Has Been Discontinued

When the Renault Megane RS was discontinued, it left a big hole with a select group of people. There are a small number of motoring purists who demand snarling performance from their road-going cars. That is where the Renault Megane RS comes to the fore – it is first and foremost a streetcar, perhaps a cafe racer if you want, but it has everyday awesomeness about it. Its appeal is that it transcends the sterile performance of pure racing, which is no surprise as it is in its DNAYou can park the almost wild Megane R.S. in your garage, go to work in and take it to the back roads in the hills and farmland and set the horses free.

This is the spirit of the Renault Megane RS. That is why you would search for one of these rare beasts in the pre-owned market – so keep an eye out for a used Renault Megane RS or its equally exciting smaller sibling the Renault Clio RS.

Megane R.S. – Racing is in its Genes!

The very DNA of Renault’s Formula 1 Racing team is genetically engineered into both the Megane R.S. 280 Lux EDC and the Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup, and at the heart of these amazing pieces of automotive engineering beats the 1.8 litre 16-valve, 4 Cylinder Turbo Direct Injection Engine. Built to stun those who see them, surprise those who think they know them and invigorate those who drive them, the Renault Megane R.S. Range is unlike any Conventional Sports Car we’ve ever built before. Yes, the passion for French style and sporty good looks is there, but so too is the brute force of a thoroughbred racing vehicle that is far beyond what many have come to expect to find in an everyday vehicle. Although there is a distinctly different feel to these two vehicles, this is all down to trim levels and sports packages and transmission, as these racy little numbers both have an athlete’s heart and will delight and astound you as you enjoy a vehicle that offers both more bark as well as a lot more bite than your regular Hot Hatch! Want to experience Renault Megane R.S. Range for yourself? Then book a test drive of this amazing adrenalin machine at our Group1 Renault Showrooms in Stellenbosch and Johannesburg.

Comfort & Practicality in a Renault Sports Car

Both of the Renault Megane R.S. Models are three-door only and their boot opening is high and narrow with a massive loading capacity (you seriously need to see how big, so ask your Group1 Renault Sales Assistant helping you to open up the trunk). However, they also both have split-folding rear seats as standard, which helps to make ample space for even some of the bulkiest packages or suitcases. Both the rear and front seat spaces are more than adequate and the comfortable front seats provide a comfortable amount of leg space for both driver and passengers alike.

Why Choose a Renault Megane R.S.?

The Renault Mégane is a well established car and is much loved both here in South Africa and abroad. It is one of the vehicles that helped turn the Renault brand around, and as such it is possibly one of their most reliable.

This reliability has not been lost in the vehicle’s transition to Renault Sports status and is part and parcel of what the modern R.S. Vehicle has become. On top of this, both the Megane R.S. 280 Lux EDC and the Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup are part of the Renault Racing heritage, and because of this we highly recommend them to any drivers who are looking for that little bit of extra excitement, that deep seated need for speed and that overall love for the freedom of the open road.
