The Renault Triber has been on sale in South Africa for over a year and now, the French automaker is upping the ante with the latest 2021 model. Available in three different trims; Expression, Dynamique, and Prestige; the new Renault Triber is getting a few enhancements to improve overall functionality.
Renault Triber Specifications
Built at the same factory as the Renault Kwid, the Triber does have its own specially designed modular platform that provides a superior driving experience and unmatched comfort.
It comes with a 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 52 kW and 96 Nm of torque. Coupled with a 5-speed EASY-R AMT automatic transmission helps deliver an effortless, smooth and comfortable drive. According to reports, Renault is planning on introducing a more powerful turbocharged 1.0-litre engine but it has been delayed with a likely date somewhere toward the end of 2022.
The Triber is also further equipped with more modern technology including a dual VVT system that delivers maximum response at all revs for optimum acceleration. All of this combined with good fuel efficiency and low maintenance cost makes the new Renault Triber an ideal choice for South Africa. Styling And Features
Looking at the Triber’s standard specifications, the Expression base model comes with air conditioning for all three rows, a Connect R&Go radio, front electric windows, remote central locking, rear parking sensors, dual front airbags and ABS brakes.
The Renault Triber Dynamique gets the same treatment but it gains a 20.3cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, steering controls, electric mirrors, cooled glovebox, rear electric windows and stylish roof racks.
On the Renault Triber Prestige, they’ve added keyless entry with push-button start, one-touch functionality for the driver’s window, reverse camera, LED daytime running lights, front side airbags and 15-inch wheels with ‘Flex’ wheel covers for a more refined, compact SUV-type look.
At the rear, you’ll find prominent eagle beak tail lamps which are horizontally designed lights that overflow onto the tailgate. In terms of the interior, the new Renault Triber has dual-tone trim and striking finishes. This includes a new centre fascia with a sleeker design incorporating chrome edges, a stylish dual-tone dashboard with silver accents and a fully digital instrument cluster with LED illumination and sportier graphics.
Practicality is really where the Renault Triber stands out. Owners will have the option of removing the rear row of seats and use the Triber as a 5-seater which means having a rather large load bay. Thanks to some smart design work, the 6th and 7th seat can be installed individually when required which is a plus in our books.
The 2nd-row seats fold and tumble forward for extended boot space when transporting longish items but you may need a toolbox to remove them entirely. There’s also more than enough head- and legroom in the rear which makes the Triber a very practical 5-seater or 7-seater.
Renault Triber Pricing And Warranty
For total peace of mind, the new Renault Triber range comes standard with a 2-year/ 30 000km Service Plan. It also has a 5-year/150 000km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. The recommended service intervals are every 15 000km.
