Renault has again taken the automotive spotlight with the big reveal of its newest SUV, the Renault Kardian. Announcing its global product plans till 2027, the French automaker offered a glimpse into the brand’s dedication to addressing the diverse needs of emerging markets.

The Kardian SUV is a compact urban B-segment vehicle based on a new CMF modular platform that is reported to support as many as eight other models. Featuring Renault’s new style highlighted by the “Nouvel’R” logo, sleek and beautiful aesthetics and a unique signature lighting pattern, the SUV captures attention from every angle.

Under the hood, the Kardian is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 92kW of power and 220Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. At 4,119 mm (162 inches) long and riding on a 2,604 mm (102.5 inches) wheelbase, the SUV is generously proportioned to cater to the diverse needs of a modern family.

On the design front, the SUV gets a contemporary split lighting configuration with sleek LED DRLs on top and the main headlamps elegantly placed below on the bonnet, along with substantial cladding on the running boards and wheel arches.

Moving to the rear, the Kardian takes inspiration from the Renault Kiger with C-shaped tail lamps units with a clean tailgate and integrated spoiler. The Kardian also promises to be more practical thanks to its large roof rails that can be unbolted and re-attached across the car. Higher-end models will be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna, and chrome accents.

The smart cabin showcases an elegant dashboard equipped with a drive mode selector, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a three-spoke steering wheel—maintaining the distinctive design elements synonymous with Renault SUVs.

It’s big on safety, too, offering blind-spot monitoring and a multi-view camera system suitable for city driving. This safety-first approach extends to a robust safety package comprising six airbags, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and hill-start assistance.

The Renault Kardian is expected to make its debut in Brazil before expanding to other emerging markets across the globe. For the latest updates on the Renault Kardian, be sure to follow Group1 Renault on Facebook.
