The sub-4 metre SUV segment is one of the most competitive divisions in the SA market. Standing tall amidst this fierce competition is the Renault Kiger – a tough, dynamic SUV with a good balance of efficiency and power. And now, Renault has once again captured the spotlight with the launch of the new 2024 Kiger.
The compact SUV retains its competitive edge with new variants, enhanced features, and availability of both naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines. In the international lineup is a new RXL variant, which offers both Energy MT and Easy-R AMT powertrains. Additionally, there’s the RXT (O) variant, which comes with the turbo manual and X-Tronic CVT powertrain options.
What Are Some Of The Notable Design Changes?
Thoughtful additions and enhancements on the new Renault Kiger include semi-leatherette seats (in a combination of high-quality fabric) and a leather-wrapped steering wheel for a more luxe feel. Now, onto the tech side of things, there are neat upgrades such as the welcome-goodbye sequence with auto-folding OVRMs and a bezel-less auto-dim IRVM.
The turbo option features red brake callipers for a sporty appeal. The 2024 range also includes auto AC, power-fold ORVMs (from RXT(O) variant onwards), cruise control (RXZ Energy variant), and LED cabin lamps across all variants.
In terms of the exterior design, Renault hasn’t tinkered too much with the current specifications of the Kiger. So expect the same fresh and bold design approach. Sprucing up the safety system in the 2024 Kiger range, Renault is offering 15+ safety features in the car. This will include a rear seatbelt reminder as standard across all units.
On the engine front is a 1.0-litre petrol unit that delivers an output of 53 kW and 96 Nm paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 74 kW and 160 Nm (MT) / 152 Nm (CVT). It is available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
Style Meets Innovation
Renault’s latest initiative falls within its plans to launch five products, including midsize SUV and electric models in the next three years. With the Kiger 2024, international consumers now have a broader choice to satisfy their varied preferences and budgets. It’s not yet clear which variants will be available in SA, but we’re eagerly anticipating what’s in store.
Similar to the newly launched subcompact SUV, the current Renault Kiger models are an attractive option for those seeking an urban-friendly SUV that doesn’t compromise on style or substance. Book your test drive today, right here at Group1 Renault, to explore what the Kiger has to offer.
