In September 2016 Renault unveiled the Renault TREZOR, an all-electric supercar that is the embodiment of Renault’s “French design and easy life” ethos. Since then it has won acclaim for its daring looks and bold take on future driving needs. Most recently it was voted as the most beautiful concept car at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, a highly prestigious automotive event which is hosted annually on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. This event is known as an event that attracts some of the most expensive and unique cars in the world, so it was a great honour to win for the best design in the prototype and concept category.
For now, the TREZOR is purely a concept vehicle, but Renault has made it very clear that it will inspire future design and functional elements in other Renault vehicles. Let’s take a better look at this exceptional concept car in the video below:
A Closer Look at the Renault Trezor!
The Renault TREZOR is powered by two individually cooled batteries that are located at the back and the rear of the vehicle respectively and which provide a combined output of 260 kW (the equivalent of 350 horsepower). The placing of the batteries helps with weight distribution, which in turn helps overall vehicle performance. Added to this, the hexagonal vents on the hood are more than simple design features, as they are an integral part of that cooling system that move up and down as air circulates. This gives the visual impression that the Trezor is alive and breathing.
The TREZOR has been built with three driving modes: neutral, sport, and autonomous. Once the autonomous mode is engaged, a simple but very effective design feature comes into play, as the logos on the rear and side of the vehicle light up. This allows other road users to identify that the car is in self-driving mode.
Please Note! Renault aims to have an autonomous system ready by no later than 2020. You can watch a video about just how effective the first generation of Renault autonomous drive systems will be in the following video:
